Treatment Details
Gregg presented to the office with right shoulder impingement and the inability to do certain motions with his shoulder with pain. He also lacked full ROM at the far ends of flexion/abduction and internal rotation. He tested weak with muscle testing in the right latissimus dorsi, long head biceps, shoulder external rotators (infraspinatus) and also his supraspinatus. Xrays also demonstrated a lack of proper coupled motion in the spine with flexion/extension views and he also had a mild flattening of his cervical curve. Gregg was treated with corrective chiropractic care, Active Release Techniques (ART), massage therapy, muscle activation/Neurokinetic Therapy, and we also designed a custom shoulder rehabilitation program for him, starting with stability and dynamic proprioception (3D mapping) and a lot of band exercises for the muscles that tested weak/inhibited during his exams/re-exams. Later, we incorporated strength on top of those stability exercises and also incorporated core/full-body movements while focusing on the shoulder during these movements (using body blade in a side plank, etc.) He responded slowly and linearly, but reported a 96-99% improvement after approximately 8 weeks or 24 treatment visits. His Xrays also showed fewer subluxations/restrictions and improved ROM. His shoulder had full pain-free ROM after the treatment program ended.
