    Patient Experience

"John had lower back pain whenever he was running or playing football, basketball, etc. Prior to ordering an MRI, which we did in order to get clarity on whether or not he had the stress fracture, he was still in full participation with his high school football team. With two weeks of treatment (despite the fracture), he was 90% pain-free and continuing to play full contact football. After the MRI results came back, as well as co-managing his case with an ortho, it was decided to hold him out of all athletic activity to ensure that his lower back fully healed, and there would not be a non-union with the fracture. He then continued with the treatments listed above in a gentle manner and as much as we were allowed to per his orthopedic doctor. He has had a full 100% resolution of lower back pain, has noticed that his muscle explosion and strength are much better, and is happily returning to full activity to rejoin his high school basketball team."

    Additional Benefits Reported

The patient also experienced these additional improvements:

Improved range of motion, better posture, more explosive muscle contractions

    Treatment Details

With John we used gentle chiropractic techniques such as flexion distraction and arthrostim, in order to allow for proper healing of the stress fracture in his lumbar vertebra that was found with an MRI at the outset of care. Additionally, I had found weak glute max muscles and compensation through the lower back muscles and hamstrings, which was putting undue compressive pressure through his lower back. We treated him with muscle activation (Reflexive Performance Reset) and NKT (Neurokinetic therapy) to get his muscles firing again in the correct patterns. We saw a lengthening of his hamstrings on the straight leg raising test as a result of correcting his glutes, hip flexors, and several other muscle groups using these techniques. John also had a lot of Active Release Techniques, massage therapy, dry needling, and spent 2.5 months in the rehab room to ensure that the patterns we created in the treatment room are holding in the long term and mitigating future injury risk.
