Verified treatment outcome for Spondylolysis and hip avulsion at Foundation Sport & Spine in Arlington Heights, IL.100% pain reduction in hip and lower back achieved over 10 weeks, 3 times per week scaling down to 2 times per week as the patient improved. Diagnosis: M43.07 (Spondylolysis, lumbosacral region). Additional benefits: More ROM in hips, Improved flexibility, Better posture, More explosive sprinting. Treatment: Brayden presented originally to the office complaining of severe right hip pain that started when he felt a pop followed by immediate pain in his hip flexor region while playing in a competitive lacrosse game for a club team. He also complained of lower back pain that had been chronic for the past 6 months to a year. We began treatment with the hip right away, which we diagnosed with an avulsion of the anterior superior iliac spine of the pelvis, with techniques that included gentle chiropractic adjustments, Active Release Techniques (ART), muscle activation strategies, and passive modalities such as dry needling, electrotherapy, and cupping. At first we did not do anything that would stretch or lengthen the fractured area, but worked exclusively with passive modalities at that region (dry needling, edema massage, electric stim) and only began to lengthen the muscles right in the area after 4 weeks when hard callus formation was completed. During the course of treatment, Brayden's mother noted to us that his lower back pain was improving with our treatments, but that she always wanted to take him to the orthopedic doctor for a second opinion, because she was concerned he was having LBP as his age. Scans revealed spondylolysis of L5/S1, and so we included the treatment of that injury with dry needling. He was advised to rest from sports and exercise for 6 weeks by the orthopedic physician, and we continued building him back up with a lot of core/pelvis/hip rehabilitation that at first focused on bracing and stability, and was later dynamic and geared towards getting him to be able to tolerate the movements that would have lead to his lower back injury in the first place. Brayden made a full recovery and is pain-free in both areas and playing at a high level for a club team out of state as well as his high school academy team.. "We heard about Dr. Porcher's office from another family in our community, and when my son injured his hip playing lacrosse, I took him in for an evaluation. He immediately diagnosed the problem, and although my son wasn't happy to hear he was going to have to sit out for a couple of tournaments until the fracture healed, it was the right thing. Brayden's lower back had also been hurting him and although he said what Dr. Porcher and his team were doing for it was helpful, I still had that "Mom instinct" to get it checked out further by an orthopedic doctor we've seen for other injuries. He found a small stress fracture in his lower back and lengthened the time Brayden needed to rest from lacrosse and other sports. Thankfully, we already felt comfortable with the work Dr. Porcher and his team were doing with treatments and PT in his office, and so we stayed the course with him. Brayden is now completely better and I'm thinking of making an appointment for myself!"
Verified treatment outcome for Spondylolysis at Foundation Sport & Spine in Arlington Heights, IL.90% pain reduction achieved over 9 weeks, 3 days per week. Diagnosis: M43.07 (Spondylolysis, lumbosacral region). Treatment: Ben presented to the office with an MRI confirming a stress reaction in the lower lumbar spine L5/S1 pars interarticularis on the right and was symptomatic with pain and weakness around his lower abdominal and hip regions. I performed biomechanical Xrays and muscle testing that demonstrated relative instability in the lower lumbar region, and a lot of mechanical restriction in the TL junction. Muscle testing also demonstrated weakness throughout the glutes, upper hamstrings, hip flexors, and lateral chain muscles. He compensated significantly using global movement/muscle patterns that cause excessive compression through the lumbar spine. He was treated with flexion distraction technique, corrective chiropractic care (aimed towards correcting the biomechanical problems seen on his Xrays), Active Release Techniques (ART), muscle activation to the weak muscles combined with targeted active rehabilitation with our personal trainer in the back of the house. He also had deep dry needling treatment to target deep adhesions and to turn over inflamed tissue deep in the lumbar spine and ensure proper bloodflow to the healing bone. After about 5-6 weeks he was noticing he was nearly pain-free with lifting heavily for his lower body, and in approximately 9 weeks he was symptom free. He continued with care 1-2 times per week after that throughout the next couple of months to round out his treatment plan and have accountability to a home rehabilitation program he was given.. Patient experience: By the end of my senior year of football season, my lower back was hurting so badly that my parents took me to the ortho. "By the end of my senior year of football season, my lower back was hurting so badly that my parents took me to the ortho. They found a stress reaction/fracture to part of the vertebrae in my lower back, and I was worried that I would miss my final track season, where I have goals of making it to state and doing really well for my team in a few events. A friend who was seeing Dr. Porcher for the same problem referred me to the office, and I was immediately impressed by how thorough his approach was to not just getting me feeling better, but also trying to ensure that this was the only time I'd have this happen to me. Much of his treatments were also geared towards helping me improve performance in strength/lifting and sprinting. Now I can look forward to enjoying my senior year of track and reaching the goals I've been working hard towards. Thank you Dr. Porcher!"
Verified treatment outcome for Spondylolysis at Foundation Sport & Spine in Arlington Heights, IL.100% pain reduction, 100% increase in muscle strength, and 100% return to full activity achieved over 2.5 months. Diagnosis: M43.07 (Spondylolysis, lumbosacral region). Additional benefits: Improved range of motion, better posture, more explosive muscle contractions. Treatment: With John we used gentle chiropractic techniques such as flexion distraction and arthrostim, in order to allow for proper healing of the stress fracture in his lumbar vertebra that was found with an MRI at the outset of care. Additionally, I had found weak glute max muscles and compensation through the lower back muscles and hamstrings, which was putting undue compressive pressure through his lower back. We treated him with muscle activation (Reflexive Performance Reset) and NKT (Neurokinetic therapy) to get his muscles firing again in the correct patterns. We saw a lengthening of his hamstrings on the straight leg raising test as a result of correcting his glutes, hip flexors, and several other muscle groups using these techniques. John also had a lot of Active Release Techniques, massage therapy, dry needling, and spent 2.5 months in the rehab room to ensure that the patterns we created in the treatment room are holding in the long term and mitigating future injury risk.. Patient experience: John had lower back pain whenever he was running or playing football, basketball, etc. Prior to ordering an MRI, which we did in order to get clarity on whether or not he had the stress fracture, he .

"John had lower back pain whenever he was running or playing football, basketball, etc. Prior to ordering an MRI, which we did in order to get clarity on whether or not he had the stress fracture, he was still in full participation with his high school football team. With two weeks of treatment (despite the fracture), he was 90% pain-free and continuing to play full contact football. After the MRI results came back, as well as co-managing his case with an ortho, it was decided to hold him out of all athletic activity to ensure that his lower back fully healed, and there would not be a non-union with the fracture. He then continued with the treatments listed above in a gentle manner and as much as we were allowed to per his orthopedic doctor. He has had a full 100% resolution of lower back pain, has noticed that his muscle explosion and strength are much better, and is happily returning to full activity to rejoin his high school basketball team."
